Titanium Slag Factory One – Company Overview

• Titan Hung Thinh Group operates a Titanium Slag Factory equipped with foreign technology lines for deep processing of titanium slag and ultra-fine zircon grinding.
• Monthly processing capacity:
  • Heavy minerals: 50,000 tons
  • Ilmenite: 6,000 tons
  • Titanium slag smelting: 2,000 tons
  • Zircon, rutile, monazite, leucoxene, anatase (including ultra-fine zircon powder): 6,000 tons
• Sao Mai mine: ~360 hectares, ~1.9 million tons reserves.
• Luong Son mine: ~4,300 hectares, ~30 million tons reserves (planned exploitation).
• Both located in Binh Thuan Province.

Role of ABCON Group – Project Management Company

• ABCON Group serves as the Project Management Company for the Titanium Slag Factory and associated mineral processing projects.
• The role includes overseeing coordination between foreign technology suppliers, managing construction and commissioning phases, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality, and budget standards, and facilitating communication between stakeholders to ensure successful project implementation.

Mining & Ore Extraction

• Titanium-zircon placer ores are mined by open-pit water power methods using water guns and mud pumps on mining rafts.
• Ore slurry is separated by vertical screw separators (gravity method) to obtain raw concentrate containing 80-90% heavy minerals (ilmenite, rutile, zircon).
• Non-ores and sludge are recycled for water reuse or used in site rehabilitation.
• Concentrates transported to refining plants (MSP) for further mineral product separation.

Processing Capabilities

• Ilmenite concentrate → titanium slag and alloy iron → further processing into TiO2 pigment, porous titanium, metallic titanium.
• Zircon concentrate → ultra-fine zircon powder, zirconium oxychloride (ZOC).
• Monazite concentrate → rare earth salts and oxides.

Exports and Product Specifications

• Port access enables import/export operations.

  • Ilmenite (FeTiO3, 51% TiO2, low impurities): 10,000 tons
  • Zircon (ZrSiO4, ZrO2 + HfO2 ≥ 63-65%, low TiO2 & impurities): 10,000 tons
  • Rutile (TiO2 83-87%, low Fe2O3 & P2O5): 500 tons
  • Monazite (REO ≥ 56%): 100 tons

• Song Binh superfine zircon mill:

  • Area: 8.39 ha
  • Capacity: 35,000 tons/year
  • Product Use: Ceramic glazes (increased transparency), enamels (abrasion/chemical resistance).
• Titanium slag factory (under construction):
  • Location: Song Binh Industrial Park
  • Area: 23.02 ha
  • Investment/Capacity: 120,000 tons/year
  • Titanium slag grades:
  – Low slag (75-85% TiO2): for sulphate pigment production
  – High slag (>85% TiO2): for chloride pigment production and titanium metal/welding rod products

Vietnam Titanium Mineral Industry Status 

• Over 42 mining licenses with 14.2 million tons licensed refined ore reserves.
• Annual mining capacity: ~1.2 million tons refined ore (784,000 tons ilmenite).
• Additional exploration forecast: ~9.5 million tons refined ore in 9 areas plus 12.7 million tons in other provinces (Thai Nguyen, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Binh Dinh, Quang Tri).
• Nationwide total mining capacity: >1.5 million tons refined ore/year.
• Five titanium slag factories and two reconstituted ilmenite factories operational, producing ~70,000 tons/year deep processed products efficiently.
